Ms Deshni Subbiah has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry in South Africa and internationally. She is currently appointed as a Non-Executive Director on numerous Boards, and has served as the Chairperson of numerous committees including Investment and Actuarial, Combined Assurance and Social, Ethics and Transformation. She was previously appointed as the Chairperson of the Short-Term Insurance Committee for the Actuarial Society of South Africa, and represented South Africa on the General Insurance Forum of the International Actuarial Association.  Over her career she has been appointed to numerous Boards in the financial services sector including Capitec Life, Sasria, the South African Institute of Professional Accountants, the Land Bank Insurance and Life Insurance Companies as well as the Export Credit Insurance Corporation of
South Africa.
She is a qualified actuary, with experience in pricing, valuations, data analytics, financial analysis and capital modelling. Actuaries are problem solvers and strategic thinkers. She is also a Chartered Enterprise Risk Actuary (CERA), with knowledge of how to use mathematical modelling and computer simulations to assess risk scientifically.

Ms Subbiah has been designated as a Chartered Director (SA)®, which is a professional director designation conferred to individuals who have demonstrated competency in their directorship knowledge, skills and experience.
At a young age, she was selected to participate in the “Brightest Young Minds” initiative, featuring the top 100 brightest young minds in South Africa. This initiative was designed to develop a generation of young leaders equipped with the skills and mind-set needed to address the challenges on the African continent. Ms Subbiah has been invited to speak at conferences, and has featured in articles, both in South Africa and internationally, to share her expertise and experiences.
